Slothbloom Reader Privacy Policy
Slothbloom Reader is a reading, listening, translation, and study-support app. It can import text, camera scans, images, audio-based lecture capture, and digital books, then help users review, read aloud, translate, organize, and optionally use AI study tools.
This policy explains what data Slothbloom Reader may access, store, process, or share when those features are used.

Data Stored On Your Device
Slothbloom Reader is designed so core reading workflows stay local on your device whenever possible. Depending on the feature you use, the app may store:
- Imported text and pasted notes
- Reader review drafts and saved readings
- Study guides, summaries, flashcards, quizzes, and action items generated inside the app
- Digital book metadata, chapter structure, bookmarks, notes, and reading position
- Voice, language, theme, and accessibility preferences
- Free-plan usage counters, retention settings, and entitlement state needed for app behavior
This local data is used to restore your library, save your reading progress, support translation and reader handoff, remember app settings, and enforce free and premium plan behavior.
Camera And Image Access
If you choose scan or image import features, Slothbloom Reader may access your camera or selected image files to capture text for OCR and reading. Camera access is used only when you choose a scan flow.
Microphone Access
If you use lecture capture, the app may access your microphone to record audio that you choose to capture. This is used to create transcripts and related reading or study material.
Translation, AI, And Cloud-Processed Features
Imported and reviewed text stays local unless you choose a feature that needs processing beyond basic on-device storage and playback. Some features, including certain AI study tools, translation support, purchase verification, analytics, ads, or cloud-backed platform services, may send limited data to Google or other service providers used by the app.
Examples may include:
- Requested text passages when you explicitly run AI study tools or related premium generation features
- Language-detection or translation requests when you choose translation flows
- Purchase status checks for subscriptions and one-time credit packs
- Operational data used by analytics, crash, app integrity, remote configuration, or ad services
These services are used to deliver the feature you requested, improve app stability, protect billing and abuse-sensitive flows, and support ads or premium entitlement checks.
Ads And Monetization
The free version of Slothbloom Reader may show ads, including native, interstitial, app-open, banner, and rewarded ad formats. Rewarded ads may be used to grant extra free-plan usage such as bonus Canopy Credits.
The app also supports Google Play subscriptions and one-time credit pack purchases. Purchase status and product availability may be checked through Google Play Billing so premium access and credit balances work correctly.
Notifications
If you grant notification permission, the app may show playback controls, reminders, and app-related notifications needed for reading and listening flows.
Text Sharing And Intents
Slothbloom Reader can receive plain text shared from other apps when you choose Android share or process-text actions. Shared text is used only to open the requested reading, review, or translation workflow.
How We Use Data
Data handled by Slothbloom Reader may be used to:
- Import, clean, format, save, and read text
- Generate or restore reader progress, bookmarks, notes, and study content
- Translate text and prepare it for review or read-aloud
- Power text-to-speech and voice filtering behavior
- Manage free-tier usage, premium access, and Canopy Credit purchases
- Show ads in the free version and reward optional bonus usage
- Protect app integrity, reduce abuse, and support diagnostics or service stability
Data Retention And Deletion
Saved readings and related local content remain on your device until you remove them, clear app data, or use built-in reset and cleanup controls. Some free-plan content may be subject to in-app retention limits described by the product.
If a feature ever stores account-linked or cloud-linked data for you, you can request deletion using the instructions on the account deletion page.
Children
Slothbloom Reader is not designed as a children-directed app. Parents or guardians should supervise use if a minor uses the app, especially when camera, microphone, translation, AI, ads, or billing-related features are involved.
